Well i had about 7 cashes yesterday, mostly being second place finishes. Although it looks like my heads up play is starting to show up. I am also very proud of the fact that my short game has really come around.
Lesson learned here lately is that, folding makes quite abit more money than calling. It's always better to be the pusher man than the caller.I have been having alot of success here busting poeple early in these STT's. Par has been working like a charm also and the more hands i play; The more i can fine tune the formula so that it becomes an art form instead of a formula.
Preflop Anomaly Requisiton;"Man i like the way that shit sounds". This is by far the best poker formula i have written as far a offense is concerned. But i am in the process of coming up with a formula for the defense also.
Which brings me to a observation that i made last night;Once again i was playing close attention to the players and position poker. As well as improving on my bubble play as well. You see everytime i make a mistake i burn it into my head;Where i have a very very long list of what not to do's.
And each day i always seem to run across a what not! And todays what not hit me on the bubble of a $5.00 sng tourney i was playing.I had a hand where i picked up JTs on the bubble 4 handed.I called the small blind instead of pushing; And somethig that i have noticed is,"when to pot is unraised and starts to get really big, maybe just maybe you might be behind".
LOL the reason being is that i hit the Jack on the flop; And the other guy flopped 2 pair as well.So i ended up taking quite a hit to my stack in this hand. So what i have added to my little book of what not's is! I am never going to limp on the bubble phase ever again! If i push this hand 3x the bb i am all good and win the pot.
One thing that i am learning about my game is that it is more than juust survival.I no longer fold good hands just to make the money;I play to win now and just cashing is not enough anymore. Playing this way is a waste of time and your pissing in the wind.I must say that my nutz have grown alot here lately; But i have alot of thanks to give to my team TOPS partner in crime JSB1976 Jeremy Behringer,AKA the 45kdizzle.
I guess before we hooked up i was playing agressive pussy poker; And now i am just playing better good solid killer man poker. One thing about the way he plays, is that he feels he can win every game. And that's how he plays day in and day out;And i guess i feel that i should cash every single one.
Anyway the lesson here for today that i learned last night playing. Stop chasing the flushes unless you got the stack and the odds to do so. And i must admit i can remember 3 hands last night where i just chased or pushed all-in on a draw. Now there are a few exceptions to this such as when your M is right at 10 or under. Then feel free to push all-in with your 4-flush draw.
So as you might have already figured i have added this to my not to do's list as well.Oh yeah i while we are on the subject of what not to do's;I just played in a WSOP tripple shootout! And guess what i did this time;"My M was about 9 and i won the first table just fine except, when i got HU with my 44 vs QQ and i spiked a 4 on the flop for a commanding chip lead.
Now that i think about it i realize that it was a bad call. I did however push it preflop on the button, but if i had it to do over i would have folded. I don't really like to play drag race poker as i feel my skills will weather the storm. But anyway i had an M of about 9 and i picked up QTs and folded. And ofcourse the flop came two of my suit with an Ace on board! A perfect flop to represent a strong Ace and then push with a 4 flush. It was the perfect scenrio and i missed it.
The very next hand i pick up J9s and push all-in,funny shit becuase this hand was weaker and besides that;I ran right into QQ and was on the rail.So what is my goal for today you might ask;Well i think that i will slow down a bit with AQ UTG and on the button in these sng's.
I need to go back to some small basic principals with early level play in my sng's. The reason is very simple as when using PAR;It's very important that you win your first hand before you begin to use the formula. And what i have noticed is that when i push hands like AQ/AJ/KQ ect. There is a high % that i may not win the hand in the early stages of a sng. Also these hands seem to get you in trouble when you miss.
Also in the 1st two levels it's best to just sit back and let the fish and the donkeys duel it out. This is usualy the time where 70% of the time i bust somebody. So it's basicaly a game of cat and mouse. Are for poker's sake Bass and fisherman!!!
Also i think i will drop non-suited holding from the equation as well. This will help when i run into a big hand and i am allowed to push the 10M factor.
