Playing a $5/27man MTT on Stars

It's Sunday night and i went broke yesterday once again in a long while. I think that i really just got away from basic smart poker.Well anyway i entered a 70fpp tourney and won it! So now im playing a 5/27in hopes of building my roll once again.

I really wanted to write this because my tourney play has changed so much for the better. So i felt that i would just do a play by play and post a few hands as well.Right now the blinds are 1st level and i have not played a hand yet.

I want to play tight with limpers and raise with any two with potential!!!!

In this can it was just going with the read that i had vs. The bad player! The big push and the small bet by him on the turn; And the all-in on the river led me to believe that he was trying to push me off the hand. Often times this can be a very bad call! But because i didn't react by making the insta shove; And the fact that my play was well thought out i felt that i could call with a good outcome!

Alot of times i find myself not letting the game come to me. And alot of times you can play out of the box and still be able to cash. But as a side note that same bad play will come back to haunt you!

This is a lesson that i have learned the hard way;And i can honestly say that i have lost more money due to bad play than bad beats! I hear so many guys bitch about how the bad beats kill them. And more times than not it's only because you shouldn't have been playing in a pot in the first place.

This 27 is now down to 18 players and i am in 5th place. I have learned that once the final table is near,It's kinda like playing on the bubble phase in a large MTT. Peeps get real tight and if you have any kind of stack and a playable hand you have to take advantage of your position and attempt to make steals.

Ofcourse the blinds have alot to do with this also;And most of the time if the blinds are not worth stealing i use extra caution as well.Also i like to see how much limping goes on,because i like to guage the table as well.If there is alot of limping i will try to play tight and bust someone!

Here is one of my favorite situations! I have a pretty good hand with position on the first limper. And i also have the honor of being in late position. So i push to 3x the bb and get the all-in from the short stack. The first limper folds who was my only worry becuase he has me covered. The small stack who pushed had enuff chips so that if i did lose i am still in the game.

Here i have almost the same situation;And i just decided to make a move here! I got the results that i was looking for in a small way when the cardz were turned over. AJ and AA with 3 aces accounted for. So i still had 3 live T's to help me by the river! This was a risky play;But it is also a play that i have had alot of success with!

I REALLY REALLY HATED TO FOLD THIS HAND! BUT I GAVE HIM THE LEAD AND HE REPS THE QUEEN! THIS MAY HAVE BEEN A VERY BAD PLAY ON MY PART! BUT HOW MANY TIMES WILL THE BOARD PAIR QUEENS LIKE THIS!


Well now i am at the final table in 4th!!!!!! There are 4 ligit short stacks and the blinds are 100/200.My M is 20 so i will just play hide and seek for now and try to attack the shortys.
SuitedJ9 is a very solid player from what i have observed! So i will play very cautious with him if i get into a pot with him.We are now down to 8 players with 3 short stacks. We are now on break as well and i feel pretty good about the way i have played so far. No major mistakes and nothing stupid,and i hav been able to realize that i may be behind and to lay down second best hand."I HOPE I DID ANYWAY"!

Well now the blinds are up and my M is alittle above 10. During this stage i like to try to make atleast one steal on the button if i can! But with the blinds coming around i really doubt if i will be able to do so.

Well now i have to play smart solid poker and use very good starting hands as well. In the past i have gotten myself into trouble playing small pairs.This will not be the case today however!

Here i chose to fold this hand UTG! I really hate limping this late in the tourney! And i felt the table was too strong for a raise with AJo!!!! Now we are on the money bubble as well with one stack@1000!
