"2008 Poker Preview (Part One)

I plan to break this series down into about 10 parts. The reason being is that i have so much info to cover before starting on my 2008 poker season. I started the year off with $5 sng's and tournaments;Which was a very tuff time for me and poker.

I pretty much ended this year in the red with so many games being played. I am not too upset though because i have gained alot of knowledge from this. Also i dropped my last 8 sng tries that was obviously tilt related. So as a side note i will deem my 2007 sng numbers as about a break even performance.

I am by far ne hell of alot better player than i was a year or so ago, that's for sure. Another thing is that alot of times i feel like this game is starting to take over my life.I get so obsessed with winning and getting better it's scary sometimes. I also have a few things that i want to kill for the 2008 season as well!

My plans are to give up smoking entirely before it kills me or my game. I have become so addicted to smoking that i feel it is starting to destroy me game. I will really have to get this monkey off my back in order to be successful playing good poker.

Also BANKROLL MANAGEMENT IS A MUST DO!!!!! Although i don't make nearly as many dumb mistakes as i used too; I have to have the proper roll for varaince period! I have made over 20+ deposits this year.

And one thing that alot of people don't understand about poker is that variance will come one way or the other. It might be your AA being cracked by A9 on a 9-8-9 flop!!! And trust me it happends i know; While you are shortstacked to end your tourney.

Are it could be a simple bad beat of AK v.s AQ against a short stack and you lose a small pot. Varaince will not rule your game as a whole; But combine that with very bad moves and decisions during a tournament. And when you look around you will be heading to the rail.

My biggest pet peve in poker is making the correct play and accepting the end result. But this is often compromised by making the wrong decision and suffering the lost!

Bankroll management is critical to long term success. I hope you adopt and adhere to strict bankroll rules. Good luck in 2008.
